Tokyo-born Hirona Amamiya is a soprano/violinist based in New York, who embraces a wide range of repertoire from baroque to contemporary music. Recent performances as a soprano include Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare), Papagena (Die Zauberflöte), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), and Sandman (Hansel and Gretel). Amamiya has performed solo recitals, chamber music concerts, and opera performances in numerous countries including Japan, Korea, Germany, Austria, Italy, Israel, and the U.S. In New York, she has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Merkin Concert Hall, The Morgan Library & Museum, The DiMenna Center for Classical Music, Symphony Space, and St. Peter’s Church, among others. She holds a bachelor’s degree in violin as well as master’s and professional studies degrees in voice from the Manhattan School of Music.
