Ludovic Morlot

guest conductor

Now in his inaugural season as the Seattle Symphony’s Music Director, Ludovic Morlot has quickly established a reputation as one of the leading conductors of his generation. In January 2012, he assumed a second post as Chief Conductor of La Monnaie/De Munt, one of Europe’s most prestigious opera houses. This season includes two consecutive subscription weeks and a West Coast tour of the U.S with the Boston Symphony Orchestra.  Morlot appears regularly with the New York Philharmonic and Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and recently conducted the symphony orchestras of Philadelphia, Cleveland and Pittsburgh. In Europe, he debuts with the Orchestre National de France and the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin. Morlot has maintained a close working relationship with the Boston Symphony Orchestra since 2001, when he was the Seiji Ozawa Fellowship Conductor at the Tanglewood Music Center, and he was the orchestra’s Assistant Conductor from 2004 to 2007.  Morlot also served as Conductor in Residence with the Orchestre National de Lyon under David Robertson from 2002 to 2004. Trained as a violinist, Morlot studied conducting at the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Royal College of Music. He was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music in 2007 in recognition of his significant contribution to music.
